Job Description

Domiciliary Care Assistant – Bradford

Location: Bradford and surrounding areas

Position Type: Full-time / Part-time / Flexible Shifts

Role Type: Domiciliary (Home Care – visiting clients in their own homes)

About the Role

We are seeking compassionate, reliable, and dedicated Domiciliary Care Assistants to join our team in Bradford. In this role, you will travel between clients' homes across the local community, providing high-quality, person-centred support.

You will play a vital role in enabling individuals to maintain their independence, dignity, and quality of life in the comfort of their own homes. Whether you are an experienced carer or looking to start a rewarding new career path, we provide full comprehensive training and continuous team support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Personal Care: Assisting clients with daily routines, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene.
  • Mobility & Safety: Supporting clients with safe transfers and movement around their home using approved techniques and equipment.
  • Medication & Housekeeping: Providing timely medication reminders and assisting with light domestic tasks to ensure a safe, clean living environment.
  • Meal Preparation: Preparing nutritious meals and drinks tailored to dietary requirements and individual care plans.
  • Companionship: Building warm, trusting relationships to combat loneliness and promote mental well-being.
  • Record Keeping: Maintaining clear, accurate digital care logs and promptly reporting any changes in a client’s health or needs.
  • Local Travel: Travelling efficiently between client visits across Bradford to deliver scheduled care visits.

Requirements & Skills

  • Experience: Previous experience in home care, supported living, or care homes is desirable but not mandatory—full structured training is provided.
  • Mobility & Transport: A valid UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle are strongly preferred due to the travelling nature of home-to-home care across Bradford (walking/public transport routes may be considered for specific local patches).
  • Communication: Strong spoken and written English skills to communicate clearly with clients, families, and healthcare colleagues.
  • Digital Literacy: Basic IT skills to access rotas and complete electronic care logging on a smartphone.
  • Key Traits: Genuine empathy, patience, punctuality, and a strong sense of reliability.

What We Offer

  • Comprehensive induction training and ongoing professional development (e.g., Care Certificate, NVQ pathways).
  • Supportive local team and 24/7 field support.
  • Mileage allowance / travel support (where applicable).
  • Flexible shift patterns tailored to suit early mornings, evenings, or weekends.

What to prepare

  • An up-to-date candidate profile and contact details.
  • Relevant work history, education, skills, and availability.
  • Any documents requested by the recruitment team for this role.
